Virginia Epidemiology Surveillance Data - ImmunizationsImmunization statistics are gathered nationally and locally to ensure that children receive appropriate and timely immunizations so as to prevent the occurrence of vaccine-preventable diseases. The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) also conducts an annual immunization survey for the children enrolled in kindergarten, day care, Head Start programs and 6th grade.
